Re: Spitfire Audio free sample libraries

This looks rather interesting. I was unable to download their app however. Their system seems to recognize that I'm not running Mac/Win and offers a dialog box that says "Download other". However, clicking that does nothing. There is also an option to download the Mac/Win app,but that too...

Yes, I got the app from the separate download page. Go to here: https://www.spitfireaudio.com/info/librar...

Spitfire Audio free sample libraries

Hello, Spitfire Audio currently has some free sample libraries available on it's website: https://www.spitfireaudio.com/labs/ If you know, Spitfire Audio has some very good sample libraries especially for orchestration. I was successfull to download and install the libraries on Linux (and already us...

Re: liftoff (instrumental metal)

Hi all, I wrote/recorded this one recently: https://soundcloud.com/modusjonens/liftoff/ My playing is still rough at spots, but I don't mind a touch of "organic" sound coming from small flubs as long as there aren't too many. Actually, I think your playing is fine. Sure you can always get...

Re: Some programming notes: C++ 11 features

I've been working with some code that used modern techniques. The new C++11 (OK it's been a few years now) meaning of the 'auto' keyword is amazing ! 'Auto' has been around for decades but nobody, including me, has ever really used it. Yeah, take a look at Haskell. Every time I get back to C++ I mi...

Re: Saturation

That's strange. I've never had a saturation plugin make drums punchier. It's normally the opposite. But then you say it's also good to tame transients, which is the opposite of making drums punchy. I've never tried the Calf one though so maybe it can do both things? I find high transients more &quo...

Re: ardour: drumgizmo midimap doesn't work

Hey, I'm using ardour with drumgizmo as drumplugin. Although I loaded the corresponding midimap.xml file to the drumgizmo plugin it doesn't show the name of the instrument - see screenshot. It only shows the note 'F#2' Unfortunately, that is not how Ardour and Drumgizmo work. The midimap file is on...

Re: Saturation

What open source saturation plugins do you like? In what circumstances do you find them useful? Calf Saturator. It's a fixed part of my master bus as well as on quite a lot of tracks (as you can see in my videos [1]). It makes drums punchier, warms certain instruments (piano, strings, synths), can ...

Re: Using Round Robin Samples in Drum Gizmo

Sorry to interrupt this exciting forum-thread. I recently refactored the XML parser code of drumgizmo and actually decided to remove the support for the old instrument version with the velocity groups because all of our kits no longer uses it and it was a pain to maintain both of them. However, due...

Re: Using Round Robin Samples in Drum Gizmo

I was looking at the Mapex one. I will probably buy it next month, if all goes as planned. I'd be great if you could send me the patch for it! No Problem. There are actually several options for the Mapex Kit: Drum Replacement Pack, Kontakt Sample Pack, Multi Velocity Pack and Single Hits Pack and t...

Re: Using Round Robin Samples in Drum Gizmo

Making the XML files isn't particularly difficult but it can be time consuming if the drum banks are large. There's DGedit but its usefulness seems limited (I'm a bit confused about how it works, but it seems mostly useful if you're feeding it raw/unedited recordings/samples). Anything that makes t...

Re: Using Round Robin Samples in Drum Gizmo

I've been thinking about getting some commercial drum samples to try for a while, but would like to stick with DG. Would using DGPatchMaker and a kit from DrumDrops make the conversion (mostly) straightforward? (I definitely don't want to spend the money if I can't use it, of course...) Depends on ...

Re: Drums in Ardour

Hi all, Are there any videos or tutorials on how to program drums through Ardour? Well, I use Muse for drum programming and DrumGizmo for the actual sound, then transfer the finished MIDI to Ardour. As for video tutorial, I made some of them, the principles can be easily used also for the AVL Kits:...
