Re: virtual-playing-orchstra with Ardour on Ubuntu Studio 19.10

Ok, i've tried it again and found another error. git checkout develop ==> error-message "no git-repository (or any parentdirectory): .git Oh, right! You have to cd into the project directory before checking out the develop branch. git clone --recursive https://github.com/sfztools/sfizz.git cd ...

Re: virtual-playing-orchstra with Ardour on Ubuntu Studio 19.10

well this seems not to be corrected within one evening :? Well, for being a Linux newbie, you're doing the right things and asking the right kind of questions. I think you're really close to getting this working. CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:34 (add_subdirectory): The source directory /home/markus...

Re: virtual-playing-orchstra with Ardour on Ubuntu Studio 19.10

There is a bug in the template, it uses an absolute path. Replace the following with an absolute path to your template: template-dir="/Users/michaelwillis/Library/Preferences/Ardour5/templates/Virtual Playing Orchestra" Be sure to do a global replace, that path appears multiple times in th...

Re: lets talk about apple mac

I have a 5 books by this publisher called No Starch Press, such as, The Linux Command Line, book and some Python books, I notice in the rear of one there is an advert for an, Audacity Book, I don't have this book so do not know if it would be useful for you. I can already tell we're going to be gre...

Re: No sound audible

Are you able to use Audacity to record audio from your mics? If that works, then my guess is that you don't have audio routed from your line-in to your line-out.

Re: Are There Any Audio Only Based Distributions?

I understand the time constraints with trying to take care of the little ones! If you are comfortable using a distro that isn't based on Ubuntu, then try AVLinux. Yes, it includes other stuff like video editing and such, but I don't think they are hurting anything unless you have a tiny hard drive. ...

EDIT Well, nothing seems to happen when I load that file with Fluidsynth.

there is a sfz file... I don't know how I missed it :x thanks

Fluidsynth will only load sf2 soundfonts, not sfz.

Re: Distribute sf2

Are you recording the samples by playing the synthesizer, or "ripping" samples from the synth's ROM?

Re: Orchestra Template Test

As a side note, one thing I forgot to mention last time is that your template has hardcoded paths to a local folder on your machine for the "template-dir" property, and that applies to all tracks: I thought this was normal and harmless (I see the same in another template I have installed)...

Re: GOing round in circles with Wine

Are you using the wine stable repo? Find instructions about how to use it here: https://www.tecmint.com/install-wine-in-linux

That might be less trouble than trying to install the wine that comes from the Mint repo.

Re: Stickers!

Today I was surprised to get an envelope in the mail shipped from "Nederland". I observed a flagrant violation of privacy: somewhere en route it had been torn open and then clumsily taped shut. Inside I found a whole pile of these stickers! Who else wants one of these?

The fact that I have no idea what a "stem export" is shows how much a of a newbie I still really am Hmm, it turns out that Ardour doesn't support midi export: https://discourse.ardour.org/t/midi-export/86618 Still, you might be able to do it, since midi regions are stored as midi files. D...

Oooh, I really like Snarky Puppy. If you want to collaborate on some kind of neo-jazz music like that, I can record a clarinet track for you, and it would be fun to try some of the synth stuff as well.

Re: Orchestra Template Test

I'll do that later tonight, thanks for the heads up! I hoped it might be just a couple of tweaks I could apply to the existing project, but looking at the diff there's a ton of changes (I guess IDs changed and so that impacted the whole document) so I'll have to start from scratch  Underst...
