Re: The Incontinentals - "Brandy"

@ufug Thanks so much for watching and commenting! Yeah, I think they laid down a bed track in 2 takes! I agree about not feeling so old..., I've been with my band for almost 30 years and these guys very much inspire me that there's some fire in these bones yet! And yes, the band name is indicative o...

Re: The Incontinentals - "Brandy"

Hi milo! The Audio and Video sessions were at different times so indeed the Vocals were tracked separately in the backing track, the Video is essentially staged to appear like the original recording session was filmed. In these days and times of newsfeed-based consumption it seems having a YouTube v...

The Incontinentals - "Brandy"

Hi, In the process of doing some paid work for some good friends who have been doing music for 50+ years. A fun and funny group of guys and terrific musicians and vocalists. Here's a video I just finished of one of their fave cover songs that they also nail live... "Brandy" (originally by ...

Hi Dave! Very cool, would make a killer soundtrack piece. I love the little bit of belly-button lint hanging around the bass, very nicely organic! I also like how the bass gets some quasi cello tones at certain pitches. The slow evolution of the repeats are really hypnotic as well. Thanks for sharing!

Hi!

Congrats on another album!

Some really catchy stuff on here, I agree the DIY aspect is very much part of the charm. Thanks for sharing!

Hi,

Congrats on your EP release!

Some really great soundscapes and moods in the songs, I also like the rhythm tracks and how upfront the drums/percussion are in some of the mixes. Great job!

Re: HazySun - relaxed, upbeat, piano, guitar, haze

Hi! I get that it's an improv so no 'on-grid' quantizing magic happening.. That said it's a little too loose for me, the drums are laying down such a tight happy jazzy groove that they kind of demand at least the rhythm section as a whole to be locked in, the bass is not always locking in and I find...

Re: AV Linux 2019.4.10 Released!

Thank you very much indeed :) . Just a question: Is it possible to do an upgrade from AVL2018 to 2019 ? (For example by modifying the sources ? ) Or will I have to do a new install ? (I use to have a separate partition for /home.) Michael Hi, Actually with AVL the focus is on the ISO images and it ...

Re: Dragonfly Room Reverb - Testers needed

Hi Michael, Thanks for your work on these great plugins! I haven't taken the opportunity or had time to try this new variant yet but it sounds promising, if you are interested in this Reverb being more suited to guitar-based bands and productions one type of digital Reverb that is conspicuously abse...

Re: switching from apple to linux

Hi joaommeirelles Another option that wasn't mentioned is AV Linux: http://www.bandshed.net/avlinux/ Yes it is an independent project maintained by a single developer (me) but it has been around for more than 10 years, it has the best potential performance by providing a default RT (realtime preempt...

It is great news, @stanlea already posted it here: viewtopic.php?f=59&t=19854

Not sure if the Mods want it in both places...?

Re: Guitarix 0.38.1 released

@artofmusic @Musicteacher If you spend any time on Ardour's IRC channel you would soon realize how many hours of developers time there has been wasted with problems with QT and GTK (gtkmm etc.) when used with plugins. X11 is definitely the way to go for compatibility with all hosts. @tramp Congrats ...

Re: E-mu 0404 and getting nowhere...

Hi To reiterate what merlyn said and what I posted before if you're on Ubuntu you need to get the alsa-firmware package from the KXStudio repositories. For the record AV Linux has always had alsa-firmware pre-installed so I'm a bit puzzled why your emu doesn't work there. As far as networking stuff ...
